Did you do a task and thought about it later that it should have taken less time such that you couldn’t focus because of distractions due to your cell phone notifications or you were not fully focused into the task? Well, most of us come across such situations and there comes a cost with it, which goes from taking more time resulting into mental pressure to not performing well to not meeting the deadline to a lot others.

So, today I am going to introduce you with a time management technique know as “Pomodoro Technique”. The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. The technique uses a timer to break down work into intervals, traditionally 25 minutes in length, separated by short breaks. Each interval is known as a pomodoro, from the Italian word for ‘tomato’.

Let me share my story as an example about how I used this technique few days ago.

Our class was asked to prepare for a chapter of Finance and to get ready for a quiz tomorrow. I had only one day to prepare for it. I had to make the most out of my time as I was short of time. I usually waste a lot of my time on my cell phone even in exams by checking it every now and then, some of you may relate :p. So, I needed to be serious and here comes the Pomodoro Technique into play, helping me make the most out of my time. Instead of feeling an endless time, I had only 25mins to do a specific part of Finance course. What I did? I distributed finance chapter into 4 parts, that is three parts for theory and one for exercise making it a total of 100 minutes.

Surprisingly, I did complete all the tasks because I had the target to complete that specific portion in that specified time. If it was not this technique, I would have required more than 3hours to complete the same task.
